A view through the back door of the Sacramento roundhouse

Proof that model railroading makes you happy - Greg setting the track deck for the north (highline) leg of the Keddie wye.

Different view without the crazy track guy.

May 2011

South Leg of the Keddie wye trestle is in as of Saturday night, 5/28/11.

Bill G. knitting the south leg structures together in preparation for 'planting'

Greg at work installing the bridge deck and track

Not quite 'the money shot' but the best we could do late on a Saturday afternoon - traffic gingerly rolling by.

Clean those wheel sets before you bring your trains in!  (Photo taken in the SP Locomotive Works Boiler Shop, 5/15/11.)

Bridge on the WP at mile post 280.27 is in!  Next, the wye structure.

Painting the floors with epoxy paint - "Model Railroading is FUN!"

West Mikon scene

Marysville scene - the 'trench' disguises the single track main transition from the lower level as it approaches the West Oroville control point.  In the center photo you can see the space reserved (and prototype photos) for the Marysville cemetery that sits just north of town.

February 2011

Construction and maintenance has returned this month with a focus on the July NMRA National Convention coming to town.

We have a so-called small group of "geek mice" who can mostly be found scampering under the layout working on electrical, electronic and JMRI PanelPro software for our standard gauge layout.  Here they are caught in the light (very unusual) discussing a design problem on a relay board used to interface our lock-out controls to Tortoise switch machines.  Now we only have 15 installations to modify...so it's BACK UNDER THE LAYOUT!

Here a bridge gang is busy at work in styrene fabricating the towers for the Keddie wye - ours will be a mere representation visually and not quite a 1:87.1 of the real thing.  The towers on the north leg (highline) are not something you can kit-bash, so scratch building is in order here.
